At the Fraunhofer IPT in Aachen, we work with more than 530 employees to make the production of the future more digital, flexible, and sustainable.

The fourth industrial revolution increases the flexibility of industrial production by linking traditional manufacturing with IoT sensors, edge, and cloud systems. This heterogeneous system requires effective orchestration, especially scheduling algorithms that consider energy consumption. Your task is to develop algorithms for energy-aware scheduling to reduce the overall energy footprint.

What you will do

  • Research various energy-aware scheduling algorithms
  • Develop a custom energy-aware scheduling algorithm
  • Perform experiments and evaluate performance metrics
  • Integrate APIs for node rankings
  • Integrate the system with a custom orchestrator
  • Validate the system architecture

What you bring to the table

  • Studying electronics, computer science, IT, or a related field
  • Experience with application development (Python, C++)
  • Initiative and teamwork skills
  • Good language skills in German and/or English
