Job Description:

The AV Technician position involves mechanical assembly, wiring, installation, and testing of AV systems in our Pre-Installation, Test and Check Out Facilities (PITCO) and at customer sites. Responsibilities include installing fiber optic cables (fiber certifications desirable), network cabling, cable dressing, reading and marking wiring documentation, and providing operational training to customer personnel. Technicians troubleshoot and repair systems during installation and ongoing support, becoming master operators of AV systems for high visibility commercial and government facilities based on their training.

Specific position requirements are as follows:

• Must hold an active passport
• Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in AV system installation and/or maintenance
• High school diploma or GED
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Ability to use a company vehicle, with an acceptable driving record
• Subject to a government security investigation; active Secret clearance or eligibility required
• Experience as a Lead Technician/Foreman leading a team of technicians

Proven skills should include mechanical installation, wire pulling, soldering, terminal crimping, labeling, fiber optic installation, cable dressing, rack assembly, reading wiring documentation, and organizational skills. Knowledge of television, computer video, RS-232, wiring standards, fiber optics, grounding, acoustics, lighting, electrical safety, and construction site safety is required.

Desired certifications and experience include:

• Certifications: Avixa CTS, CTS-I, Crestron CTI, Extron AV Associate Certification
• Ten (10) years of electronics installation/maintenance across multiple systems and clients
• Experience with electronic circuit testing and testing devices
• Knowledge of Volt/AMP meters
• Desirable: CFOS Certification from FOA, CTS from InfoComm

Physical abilities and skills:

• Lift at least 100 pounds, and 60 pounds for extended periods
• Handle ladders and work at heights up to 60 feet
• Perform physical activities such as climbing, lifting, crawling, and reaching
• Good vision (corrected if necessary), color vision, hearing, and communication skills in English
• Recognize potential problems and apply general rules to solve specific issues
• Ability to see details at close range and understand spoken information
