Automotive Safety Expert for AI-based System - ISO 8800 / ISO 21448 / AI-Based Systems

Full-Time - Permanent

We are currently partnered with a world-leading research center in Germany working on cutting-edge next-generation projects within AD / ADAS. The team is looking to expand their headcount with an Automotive Safety Expert AI-based System.

Responsibilities :

• Cultivate an innovation-driven mindset to explore new approaches for achieving safety goals, pushing the boundaries, and advancing the state-of-the-art in AI-based safety.
• Conduct comprehensive safety analyses of AI-based systems in accordance with ISO 8800, ISO 21448, and other relevant safety standards.
• Define and review safety concepts, including mechanisms designed to safeguard AI-based systems.
• Collaborate closely with system engineering and development teams to design and review AD / ADAS system safety architectures, ensuring coverage of fail-operational, fail-degraded, and fail-safe aspects.
• Stay current with industry standards, regulations, trends, and emerging best practices, and share key insights within the organization to influence our ADS solutions.

Qualifications :

• MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience in automotive system / software safety engineering.
• Strong understanding of AI-based systems, including neural network architectures, hardware and software platforms for AI, and their failure modes.
• Practical experience in analyzing the nominal performance of AI-based systems, determining performance metrics, and implementing performance improvements.
• In-depth knowledge of automotive safety engineering, particularly in relation to ISO 26262, ISO 21448, functional and technical safety concepts, and safety analysis methods such as HAZOP, HARA, FMEA, FTA, and STPA, with a focus on SOTIF and emerging AI regulations.
