A prominent special education law practice seeks an Attorney with strong litigation experience who is a go-getter — articulate, driven, and committed to an excellent work ethic. Special education or disability rights experience is not required; training will be provided for the right candidate with strong litigation skills and a passion for advocating for children and families. New York State Bar admission is required; SDNY experience is a plus and will be highly valued.


This is a fully remote position offering flexibility, high-impact advocacy, and opportunities for professional growth. Part-time or full-time hourly work with flexibility is available for the right candidate. Candidates must have experience with billing and tracking time accurately.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent parents and students in administrative due process hearings, appeals, and federal court matters.
  • Engage in federal and state court litigation, including appeals, complex legal research, and drafting.
  • Draft, file, and litigate Due Process Complaints; prepare pleadings, motions, and legal briefs.
  • Develop case strategies, conduct case development and manage evidentiary records.
  • Handle motion practice and deliver high-quality, in-depth legal research.
  • Apply highly developed critical thinking and strategic problem-solving skills; demonstrate the ability to think creatively and outside the box.
  • Negotiate settlements with school districts.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, experts, and opposing counsel.
  • Accurately track and record billable time in accordance with firm billing procedures.
  • J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to practice in New York State, or admission to another state bar with the ability to waive into New York.
  • Strong litigation skills, including depositions, motion practice, excellent legal research, and trial or hearing experience.
  • Experience with federal and state court practice; SDNY experience and demonstrated experience with appellate work are highly valued.
  • Outstanding legal writing, research, and analytical skills.
  • Experience billing and accurately tracking time for legal work is required.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and client advocacy abilities.
  • Must be highly organized with excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage deadlines in a remote environment.
  • Must be proactive, articulate, and demonstrate a strong commitment to high-quality representation.
