The Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt am Main, one of Germany's largest universities with around 44,000 students and 5,700 employees, was founded in 1914 by Frankfurt citizens. The Institute of Elementary and Primary Education in the Department of Educational Sciences is seeking to fill the position of an (Associated) Lecturer (m/f/d) (E 13 TV-G-U) with a focus on primary school pedagogy, subject teaching, and aesthetic education. The position is initially for three years as an Associated Lecturer with the possibility of permanent appointment as a Lecturer. It is part of the Advanced Teaching Track within the university's permanent position concept Karrierewege@Goethe and is linked to a tenure track; after three years, the position will be evaluated for continuation.

If an applicant has all necessary qualifications and relevant professional experience after completing the doctorate, an immediate permanent appointment as a Lecturer is possible following external assessment according to the university's procedures. The salary is based on the collective agreement (TV-G-U).

Responsibilities:

• Participate in teaching and research within the Institute of Elementary and Primary Education.
• Contribute to courses in primary school teaching and educational science, focusing on heterogeneity/inclusion, didactics of multi-perspective subject teaching, and aesthetic education.
• Teach modules such as L1-AGD A, L1-AGD D, L1-Ä1, BW-B, and BW-C, and be prepared to teach other modules as needed.
• Examine in the First State Examination in General Primary School Didactics and Educational Science.
• Engage in organizational tasks like course planning, internship supervision, and departmental initiatives.
• Undertake regular further training in higher education didactics.
• Allocate time for self-directed research for academic qualification during the employment period.

Requirements:

• Completed academic degree (teaching degree, Master’s, or equivalent) in educational science or related fields.
• Doctorate in educational science.
• Relevant empirical research and teaching experience in primary school education and subject teaching.
• Expertise in aesthetic education.
• Willingness to teach in English.
