To meet this growth, we're expanding our Cyber, Data and Information Law (CDIL) Team and are seeking an ambitious, highly motivated Associate Solicitor to join us. Why join Us? Beyond legal advice, you'll help shape innovative risk management solutions, contribute to thought leadership content, deliver webinars, and support the development of resources used by thousands of policyholders across the UK. Drawing on your practical experience, you'll help create legal guidance, articles, training materials and client-facing content that enables organisations to better understand and manage legal and regulatory risk.

  • Advising and representing policyholders and private clients on data protection, privacy and information law matters.
  • Managing data breach and cyber incident response matters, including regulatory notifications, stakeholder communications and engagement with regulators.
  • Advising on claims, investigations and insured events arising under cyber and management liability insurance policies.
  • Supporting policyholders through regulatory investigations, complaints and information rights disputes.
  • Working closely with insurers, brokers, forensic investigators and other specialist suppliers to coordinate effective incident response strategies.
  • Handling subject access requests, freedom of information requests and other information rights matters.
  • Advising on and drafting privacy documentation, policies, procedures and data sharing arrangements.
  • Supporting the defence and resolution of claims arising from data breaches, cyber incidents and privacy-related disputes.
  • Delivering training, webinars and legal updates to clients, brokers and insurer partners.
  • Creating legal content including articles, blogs, guidance notes and risk management resources.
  • Supporting business development initiatives as we continue to expand our client base and service offering.

No two days are the same. One day you may be helping a policyholder respond to a significant data breach, the next advising on a complex regulatory issue, assisting with a live insured claim, delivering a webinar, or working alongside insurers and forensic specialists to support a client through a major cyber incident. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a solicitor looking to develop specialist expertise in a rapidly evolving area of law while working within a collaborative, innovative and market-leading team This is a full-time, permanent role, based at our Leeds, Hull or Birmingham offices. Travel between offices and to client sites is expected, so a full, clean driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential. For more experienced candidates, we are open to discussing fully remote working., Most importantly, you bring a positive, proactive, can-do mindset. The ideal candidate will have general CDIL expertise and also:
  • Be a qualified Solicitor or Equivalent.
  • Experience of dealing with a varied case load.
  • Have experience and knowledge of Commercial Disputes legal practice area.
  • Experience of working in a busy reputable legal team in the relevant legal discipline.
  • Have working knowledge of IT systems such as Word, Outlook, case management systems (ideally salesforce) and digital dictation systems.
  • Be able to exhibit strong ability to work on own initiative using their autonomy, whilst also being a strong team player.
  • It would also be desirable to have:
  • Some insurance litigation experience and understanding of litigation policy related issues.
  • Knowledge and working use of case management systems.
