About the Role
The Athletic is looking for an Associate Newsroom SEO Editor to join our audience team. Search is a growing driver of readers to The Athletic. The Associate Newsroom SEO Editor will help grow The Athletic's audience by optimizing the news of the day, evergreen stories and sections and by guiding on live journalism, and helping to further create a newsroom that is
audience focused.
The ideal candidate will preferably have newsroom experience and understand how to monitor performance and changes in Top Stories and organic rankings. They will be expected to continuously maintain visibility on major storylines and plan in advance for major tentpole events. On a daily basis, the candidate will also need to give clear action-oriented SEO advice to busy journalists and help us to find new growth opportunities. They will be a confident communicator with an interest in sports and believe in the mission of The Athletic as a brand.
This role will be contracted through 2/8/2026.
This role requires working evening and weekend shifts. It also requires schedule shifts during major sporting events.
This role is 100% remote for candidates in the United States and Canada.

Requirements
The annual base salary range for this role is $67,000.00 - $73,000.00 USD. The total compensation offered for this position may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skills, and location. It may also include non-cash rewards and benefits. The base salary range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
