Associate Director / Medical Lead – Medical Affairs, Thoracic Oncology

Location - Working in a Hybrid fashion from Germany, reporting into the Local / Regional affiliate

Position Summary :

The Associate Director / Medical Lead – Lung / Thoracic Oncology will be the primary medical affairs representative for thoracic cancers at the country level. This role is responsible for driving local medical strategy, supporting product launches or in-market brands, and engaging with key stakeholders to ensure the highest standards of scientific and clinical exchange. The ideal candidate brings strong oncology expertise, particularly in lung cancer, and thrives in a cross-functional, patient-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities :

Local Medical Strategy & Execution :

  • Lead the development and implementation of the local medical affairs plan for lung / thoracic oncology in alignment with global / regional strategy.
  • Ensure strong alignment with commercial, market access, and regulatory teams to support the successful execution of brand objectives and product lifecycle activities.
  • Provide timely medical and scientific insights to inform strategy and adapt to evolving local clinical practice.

Stakeholder Engagement :

  • Identify, engage, and build long-term partnerships with national and regional thoracic oncology experts, cooperative groups, and scientific societies.
  • Lead medical activities including advisory boards, roundtables, speaker programs, and peer-to-peer education initiatives.
  • Act as the key country contact for scientific and clinical inquiries related to lung / thoracic oncology.

Scientific Communication & Education :

  • Develop and deliver high-quality medical content for scientific meetings, internal training, and field medical team support.
  • Support the review and approval of promotional and non-promotional materials according to local regulatory and compliance standards.
  • Stay current on relevant clinical data, treatment guidelines, and competitor landscape; provide concise analysis and strategic recommendations to internal teams.

Evidence Generation & Data Collection :

  • Support and oversee local non-interventional studies (NIS), real-world data initiatives, and investigator-sponsored studies (ISSs) in collaboration with global and regional teams.
  • Ensure timely collection and communication of insights and field intelligence that may impact medical and commercial strategy.
  • Contribute to the local execution of global publication plans and scientific communication strategies.

Qualifications : Education :

  • Advanced degree (MD, PharmD, or PhD) required, preferably with oncology specialization or relevant clinical background.

Experience :

  • At least 3–5 years of experience in Medical Affairs, ideally with prior experience in lung or thoracic oncology.
  • Proven ability to manage medical projects independently at the affiliate level.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and within compliance frameworks in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Strong clinical and scientific acumen in oncology; confident engaging with senior medical experts.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with strong organizational skills.
  • Fluency in the local language and English is required.

Travel Requirements :

  • Up to 30% domestic travel for KOL engagement, medical meetings, and internal collaboration; occasional international travel for congresses or global meetings.
