Job Description

Associate Director (m/f/d) Employee Relations - Germany

Location: Munich

Role Overview

Reporting to the Head of International Employee Relations in the UK, this role manages labour and employee relations cases in Germany, based in Munich.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage relationship with Works Council:
    • Plan, prepare, and manage Works Council activities.
    • Maintain shared database with WC.
  2. Serve as ER subject matter expert on various issues such as performance management, investigations, disciplinary actions, and HR policies.
  3. Provide advice/support to employees, managers, and HR, including conducting investigations and preparing reports.
  4. Ensure compliance with German regulations, benchmark with peers and associations.
  5. Support business change processes including acquisitions and restructurings.
  6. Provide insights on employment principles, workplace trends, and conduct data analysis.
  7. Design and facilitate training on HR policies and best practices.
  8. Collaborate across functions, including Legal, and conduct stakeholder meetings.
  9. Support investigations, including cross-border projects.
  10. Exercise discretion and judgment in advising on ER issues, work independently, and handle sensitive information.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years’ experience managing German Employee Relations; BS/BA degree required.
  • Employment Law Degree preferred.
  • Fluent in German and English.
  • Strong communication, HR knowledge, judgment, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage high-volume workload and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
