Marin Community Clinics, founded in 1972, is today, a multi-clinic network with a wide array of integrated primary care, dental, behavioral, specialty and referral services. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), we provide vital health services to almost 40,000 individuals annually in Marin County. The Clinics regularly receive national awards from the Health Resources and Services Administrations (HRSA). Reporting to the Chief Dental Officer, the Associate Dental Director is an integral member of the dental department management team. Working closely with, and supporting the Chief Dental Officer, the Associate Dental Director provides dental direction, as well as provider and other clinical staff management concerning all aspects of patient care. The Associate Dental Director assists with establishing, reviewing, and maintaining dental standards which assure the quality of dental services provided to all patients treated at the clinic.
Work Schedule: Will need to be flexibility to work a variety of days (including weekends) and times (evening and weekend shifts).
Shift Differential: Evening and weekend shifts (4 hours) with direct patient contact, include a 10% pay differential in addition to your regular pay. Evening differential is paid only for completed 4-hour shifts that begin after 4:00 PM.
Responsibilities
- The Associate Dental Director will be responsible for working with and providing supervision and direction to dental providers and dental clinic staff to ensure a high quality of care in the dental clinics, and to establish and maintain dental clinic policies, procedures and protocols.
- Recruits and selects dentists and support staff to ensure MCC maintaining an ongoing operation that can meet the demand of the clinic and its patients.
- Responsibilities include providing direct patient care, maintaining and improving provider productivity, provider recruitment, organizational strategic planning, ensuring clinic compliance with FQHC requirements and participation in quality improvement initiatives.
- In conjunction with the CDO, helps to develop standards of care and workflow procedures that facilitate and enhance quality, efficiency, employee and patient satisfaction and supports the fiscal health of the organization.
- In conjunction with the CDO, establishes Policies and Procedures for MCC’s Dental Clinics to meet all regulatory/licensing requirements.
- Ensures smooth operation of Dental Services to meet Standards of Care. Establishes Standards of Care and Quality Assurance & Improvement Program for MCC’s Dental Services.
- In conjunction with the CDO, recommends and interprets dental clinical and quality objectives, and oversees the dental quality program, including but not limited to, the dental clinical measures required for grants, by regulatory agencies, for certifications and health plan participation or incentive payments.
- Represents dental clinical perspective and opinion in administrative matters, and advises on information system needs.
- Advocates for the organization and serves as a liaison to local and state professionals, as appropriate.
- Participates in Provider meetings, QA meetings, Leadership Team meetings and Dental Advisory Board as requested by the Chief Dental Officer.
- Maintain appropriate staff levels and participating in recruitment. This includes working collaboratively with Recruiters and may involve dispositioning candidates utilizing our ATS (ICIMS), interviewing and checking references.
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Provides for the diagnosis and treatment of health center patients within the scope of his/her license to practice dentistry.
- Provides follow-up on patients seen including chart notations, lab review, and referrals to specialists.
- Provides training to MCC dentists and dental staff on Standard of Care, operation policies and procedures, and regulatory/licensing requirements and supervises MCC staff dentists and evaluates performance at periodic intervals.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Graduate of an accredited Dental school with current CA License and certification.
- Five or more years providing primary dental care in a family practice setting preferred.
- Three or more years of previous management experience.
- Working knowledge of state, federal and private insurance referral/authorization protocols, federal, state and county programs for the un/under insured preferred.
- Previous experience in an FQHC Clinic setting highly desirable.
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation, with the ability to focus on key performance metrics.
- Computer skills required.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Sensitive to the needs and situations of a multi-cultural population from a variety of income levels.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Familiarity with current dental issues and practices.
- Creative problem solving skills.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- May be required to occasionally lift at least 20 – 25lbs.
- Prolonged standing, walking and working on a computer.
