Kühne Logistics University (KLU) in Hamburg, Germany, one of Germany’s top research-oriented private business schools and accredited by AACSB, is looking for an Assistant Professor in Business Analytics and Operations Management (tenure-track).
The position is a full-time appointment to be filled at the earliest possible date.
The professor will excel by conducting original and impactful research in their chosen area. As such, we expect from candidates not only commitment to publish their research in top-tier journals (see here for theKLU Journal List), but also a willingness to create scientific and societal impact with that research.
Teaching will be in the areas of operations management and business analytics, including the use of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in operations and digitalization of supply chains. Like other faculty, the professor will also participate in industry and university service activities. An interest in applying for third-party funding and the international development of KLU is also expected.
Applicants need to have completed a PhD in operations management, logistics, operations research, industrial engineering, economics, or a related discipline. We are looking for a candidate with first evidence of research excellence and the ability to publish in top-tier journals to enrich and expand the diverse research portfolio of our faculty. Applicants should have developed some data science expertise byapplying advanced analytics, statistical methods, and/or machine learning techniques to extract valuable insights and knowledge from data within the domain of operations.
In teaching, we seek a candidate with a strong ability and interest to translate research insights into engaging and interactive lectures. Candidates need to be fluent in English as all courses at KLU are taught in English. We particularly encourage candidates to apply who are interested in entrepreneurially co-shaping a still young university.

The teaching load is attractive, with 150 teaching hours per year as the nominal load (1 teaching hour is equivalent to 45 minutes), and may include teaching at the undergraduate, master and PhD level, as well as executive education.
