Job Description

Job Summary

The Assistant Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire plant operation that processes raw materials into high-quality products. This role ensures that equipment and buildings are sanitary and in good repair, reporting directly to the Plant Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain efficient and timely flow of all received raw materials.
• Manage hourly production schedules from start to finish.
• Monitor individual performance to ensure procedures meet high standards.
• Control vendor pricing by evaluating prices based on value, service, and quality compared to competitors.
• Plan stock orders to minimize emergency purchases and associated costs.
• Ensure the quality of all finished products and investigate reasons for quality loss.
• Supervise maintenance and production personnel, overseeing maintenance of equipment and facilities involved in raw material processing.
• Keep maintenance records up-to-date.
• Observe all company safety rules and regulations, prioritize safety, and conduct regular safety meetings.
• Investigate workplace accidents and make safety recommendations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2-3 years of supervisory/management experience in an industrial or plant setting.
• Over 3 years of experience working in an industrial/manufacturing environment; rendering industry experience is a plus.

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Detail-oriented and highly organized.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
• Self-motivated and proactive.
• Strong math and computer skills.
