THE ROLE & THE TEAM

At Zalando Beauty, we are seeking a proactive and trend led Assistant Buyer to join our dynamic Buying team. As an Assistant Buyer for Beauty, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping our product selection and brand strategies. Working closely with our Buyers, you will leverage your keen eye for trends and your deep understanding of the European market to curate a strong lineup of beauty products.

As an Assistant Buyer for Beauty, you will support the Buying team on product selection and brand strategies. You will work with the Buyer and on your own accounts to negotiate the best terms for the business with suppliers. You will also ensure the ordering process is efficient and compliant with Zalando’s processes and assist the wider buying team where necessary, working in cooperation with the planning team. You support the team with analysis and trend topics, therefore contributing to the creative and commercial strategy of the unit.

WHAT WE'D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

• Support the Buyers to negotiate the best possible terms with suppliers i.e. margin, discounts, markdown support and ZMS.
• Work closely with the Buyer and planning team to quantify new launch orders.
• Work with the planners to analyze performance, making recommendations to the buying team i.e. to keep or discontinue within the business/products.
• Work with Marketing and PR to be aware of promotional opportunities during negotiations with suppliers.
• Carry out research and see through the end to end process of products being raised to going online.
• Support your team in operational and functional matters, by creating, maintaining, & sending/cancelling orders and making sure all necessary steps are followed through.
• First contact person for our suppliers, next to our buyers, supporting in the set up and allowing smooth workflow.
• Work closely with our design, product and planning team in order to ensure that our products are available for purchase.

WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF...

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Fashion Management or an education in a similar area.
• You have a basic knowledge and first experience (+- 1 year) in Buying on an assistant level and passion and interest for the world of e-commerce.
• Thriving in fast-paced environments, embracing collaboration and acting proactively. Organizing your workload efficiently, ensuring tasks are ready on time, are accurate and prioritized accordingly.
• Knowledge in MS Office, Google Tools and combining the passion for numbers with fashion. Moreover, you have a strong understanding of trends and products, especially at European-market level.
