Zusammenfassung

techstaff-in is building a new enterprise AI platform for secure, explainable and governed AI applications. The AI Architect will own the architecture end-to-end and personally implement critical components in Python within an in-house SaaS product.

Based in Germany, remote within Germany with occasional team days in Munich; fixed salary up to €130,000 plus VSOP. The role blends architecture ownership with hands-on engineering and collaboration with senior leadership.

I am supporting a technology business that is building a new enterprise AI platform for secure, explainable and governed AI applications.

This is an in-house product position, not a consultancy or presales role. You will take long-term technical ownership of the AI architecture and help develop a greenfield platform into a reliable production product.

You will work closely with senior technical, product and business leadership. The role combines architecture ownership with hands-on engineering, so you should be comfortable making technical decisions and personally implementing critical parts of the platform.

What you will be responsible for

• Defining and evolving the architecture for multi-tenant RAG and agentic AI capabilities
• Personally building reference implementations and production components in Python
• Designing document ingestion, chunking, indexing, retrieval and reranking pipelines
• Establishing tenant isolation, access controls, data-residency boundaries and model-usage controls
• Designing model access, routing and integrations with tools, APIs and MCP servers
• Introducing evaluation, observability, guardrails and clear production-release criteria
• Improving retrieval quality while balancing latency, infrastructure cost and model usage
• Ensuring AI decisions, sources and system behaviour can be traced and explained
• Working with platform engineers on APIs, deployment, Kubernetes and production operations
• Producing clear architecture decisions, runbooks and engineering standards
• Supporting the product from initial build through release, monitoring and continued improvement

What we are looking for

• Strong experience designing and personally building production AI or machine-learning systems
• Recent hands-on experience with LLM applications, RAG or agentic AI
• Experience working within a SaaS or software-product environment
• A practical understanding of multi-tenant architecture and the separation of customer data, permissions and usage
• Strong Python engineering experience, including backend services and APIs
• Experience taking systems beyond prototypes and operating them in production
• Knowledge of retrieval quality, evaluation, monitoring, failure handling and controlled releases
• The ability to explain technical decisions clearly to technical and non-technical colleagues
• Professional English communication skills. German is not required
• Comfortable attending team days in Munich approximately once or twice per month

The technology environment includes Python, FastAPI, agent-orchestration frameworks, LLM gateways, AI-observability tooling, PostgreSQL with vector search, MCP and Kubernetes.

You do not need experience with every named technology. Comparable frameworks are welcome, provided you can demonstrate strong architectural judgement and hands-on production delivery.
