EUROGATE Group Automation (EGA) seeks an IT Application Engineer to bridge the Mini Terminal project and the IT Factory, ensuring requirements, solutions, and operations stay aligned.

The role validates solutions and preserves knowledge of system behaviour within the project and toward Operations, with a focus on integration and testing across IT Factory and equipment vendors.

Qualifikationen

• At least 5 years’ experience as a functional expert in a complex operational or automated environment, within IT and/or Operations.
• Experience across IT, Operations, vendors in a delivery or testing context.
• Experience in testing applications, including defining and executing test cases, analysing issues and supporting resolution.
• Strong understanding of how applications support operational processes and system behaviour in practice.

• Identify, analyse, and drive resolution of cross-system issues across multiple teams or vendors.
• Serve as the reference for how systems behave in practice during lab testing, integration, and live validation.

The Role

The IT Application Engineer acts as the content link between the Mini Terminal project and the IT Factory, ensuring alignment between project requirements, delivered solutions, and operational needs.

The role supports validation of solutions and serves as a knowledge carrier of system behaviour within the project and towards Operations.

The accountability of the role is:

Define, validate, and maintain system behaviour across IT Factory systems and equipment providers (e.g. TOS, ECS, ASC, ATT),

ensuring alignment with operational requirements

Own the definition and validation of interfaces between systems

including:

• Interface specifications and behavioural expectations
• Alignment of assumptions across IT Factory and equipment vendors

Design and support execution of integration, end-to-end, and flow test scenarios

ensuring:

• Cross-system interactions behave as intended

Analyse and resolve cross-system and integration issues

• working across IT Factory, vendors, and project teams to drive resolution

Ensure delivered solutions align with defined requirements and operational intent

• Reviewing solution designs and implementations
• Validating system behaviour during lab and live testing

Act as the functional authority on system behaviour within the project

supporting:

• Integration activities
• Testing and validation
• Operational understanding and readiness

The IT Application Engineer reports to the IT and Automation Manager of the Mini Terminal project.

Location

Wilhelmshaven with some travel possible across EUROGATE’s other locations – Bremen, Bremerhaven and Hamburg.

Language

English fluency required; German language proficiency is strongly preferred too.

In practice, this means you will:

• Act as the functional integration lead across IT systems and equipment, ensuring that individual components work together as a coherent operational solution
• Work closely with the IT Factory, equipment providers, and Operations to define, align, and validate system behaviour and interfaces
• Translate operational requirements into system behaviour, test scenarios, and integration logic
• Define and support execution of integration and end-to-end tests, working alongside QA and vendors to validate system performance
• Identify, analyse, and drive resolution of cross-system issues, particularly where responsibilities span multiple teams or vendors
• Serve as the point of reference for how systems behave in practice during lab testing, integration, and live validation

Hard Skills & Experience

• At least 5 years’ experience as a functional expert in a complex operational or automated environment, within IT and/or Operations
• Experience working across multiple disciplines (e.g. IT, Operations, vendors) in a delivery or testing context
• Experience in testing applications, including:
• Defining and executing test cases
• Analysing issues and supporting resolution
• Strong understanding of how applications support operational processes and system behaviour in practice

Examples of Relevant Backgrounds (non-exhaustive)

You may have been working as a functional expert within a control system environment (e.g. TOS, ECS, WCS, or similar), with strong involvement in system behaviour, integration, and testing

You may have been working in a complex automated environment (e.g. terminal, warehouse, manufacturing), focusing on how systems interact and perform in real operations

You may have experience bridging IT systems and operational equipment, supporting integration, validation, and issue resolution across multiple providers
