Location: Frankfurt, Germany
We are seeking an Antenna Design Engineer for our Automotive R&D team based in Frankfurt, Germany. You will be responsible for new technology and solution development for automotive antennas and related products.
Responsibilities
- Independently design and develop specific antennas for automotive applications in infotainment, telematics, and related communications protocols
- Lead a team to complete development activities, including allocation of tasks to engineers
- Explore cutting-edge technologies and track industry design trends
- Develop innovative solutions with challenging technical and product requirements; present such solutions to customers
- Cooperate with other internal functions to ensure designs can be implemented in leading edge products
- Draft technical specifications, design guidelines and related documents for new solutions
- Meet with customers, lead technical reviews, and provide on-site technical support for customer design/field test activities
- Lead design certification activities with external test labs
- Travel required, approximately 10% - 15% of total work time, including occasional international travel to USA and Asia
Qualifications
- BSEE required. Advanced degree in electromagnetics/RF preferred. Candidates with degrees in other engineering disciplines will be considered if accompanied by significant automotive RF experience
- 5+ years of experience in automotive RF with at least 3 years in antenna design
- 1+ year experience as a technical lead
- Experience in antenna technologies and applications specific to the automotive industry
- Strong understanding of electromagnetic theory, microwave and antenna design
- Knowledge of AM/FM, SDARS, GNSS, RKE, 4G/5G LTE, 802.11, Bluetooth, DSRC, and C-V2X with system-level implications
- Proficiency with FEKO (or CST-MWS, HFSS) or similar antenna simulation tools
- Ability to tackle key technical problems or create innovative designs independently
- Proactive, self-motivated with curiosity for science, technology and engineering
- Flexibility to work independently and adapt to varied tasks; willingness to move outside comfort zone
- Good teamwork and communication skills
- Fluency in written and spoken English and German
