Job summary

Vireo Ventures is an early-stage VC fund based in Berlin. We back European founders building the energy transition in grids, storage, energy trading, flex and AI for asset management.

You will work in a lean investment team sourcing deals from first call to decision, focusing on deep tech and Physical AI. You will help make our investment process more efficient and build a Europe-wide founder network. This role includes owning deals and collaborating with partners from day one.

Qualifications

• Background in engineering, computer science, physics or related field.
• Genuine interest in robotics, AI and hardware.
• Good judgment about people and technology; able to speak up.
• Experience in a startup or VC is a plus; a Europe deep tech network helps.

Responsibilities

• Run first calls with founders and assess team and product.
• Turn AI research into concise investment memos and pitch to the team.
• Own the technical view on deep tech deals and assess defensibility.

Job description

Vireo Ventures is an early-stage VC fund based in Berlin. We back European founders building the energy transition in grids, storage, energy trading, flex and AI agents for asset management. We are also exploring new sectors: robotics, industrial AI and hardware that makes energy infrastructure resilient. We prefer to invest at pre-seed, so being in the room when companies are started is critical.

The role

You will be working in a lean investment team where speed is essential. Working closely alongside the partners, you will source the best deals in our field. You can own a deal from beginning to end. You will focus on deep tech and Physical AI, the verticals we are opening up next to our core pillars in energy.

You will also spend a good share of your work thinking about how to make our investment process more efficient: sourcing founders earlier, building up a network of relevant people across the continent and bringing AI to every part of the organization.

You will run many first calls, and founders will know you as their contact from day one. You are encouraged to bring ideas, have strong opinions and fight for the deals you source.

What you will do

• Run first calls with founders and give a clear view on each team and product
• Turn AI research and pre-memos into a sharp human assessment and pitch cases to the team
• Own the technical view on deep tech deals: what is real, where the potential is, what is defensible
• Build deal flow in robotics, Physical AI and industrial AI across Europe
• Be visible where founders are: spin-offs, university clubs, hackathons, founder events
• Support due diligence and write investment memos
• Have a voice in investment discussions from the start
• Help improve our AI-first deal process, bring ideas, be creative

What you bring

• A background in engineering, computer science, physics or a related field. A business degree with real technical depth works too - or convince us otherwise
• Genuine interest in robotics, AI and hardware, ideally hands-on (projects, research, a startup)
• Good judgment on people and technology, and the confidence to share it
• You enjoy talking to founders and can lead conversations on your own
• You work fast and comfortably with AI tools
• Fluent English and willingness to learn German from the start are required
• Experience in a startup or VC is a plus. A network in Europe's deep tech or student founder scene even more so
• Willingness to work under pressure, with many things usually going on at the same time
• You believe in a strong European ecosystem and want to support the next wave of unicorns made in Europe
