Job Description

We seek a Power Distribution Certification Engineer to join our team. This role involves engaging with certification agencies like EASA and FAA to ensure our aircraft's electrical power systems meet all standards. Responsibilities include reviewing design data, testing, inspection, and analysis documentation to facilitate certification of the Power Distribution System, considering its interfaces with other aircraft systems. Your expertise in electrical standards and communication skills will be vital in guiding design compliance and performance.

Your mission during this flight:

• Collaborate with Power Distribution System Engineers to review design and lifecycle data of high and low voltage components.
• Act as a Compliance Verification Engineer, executing activities as required by Volocopter’s CVE scope.
• Serve as the primary contact with certification agencies for the Power Distribution System, managing action items and compliance plans.
• Represent our team in industry working groups discussing electrical power distribution certification.
• Review design data, testing, inspection, and analysis documents for compliance with certification requirements.
• Update and discuss the Electric Propulsion System Certification Plan related to certification requirements.
• Address non-compliances or alternative compliance methods with authorities.
• Work closely with design engineers to ensure certification standards are met.
• Review supplier documentation for compliance and address non-conformances.
• Coordinate with test teams to review certification test plans and setups.

Qualifications

Check in your professional skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Knowledge of SC-VTOL and compliance standards like MOC-2-SC-VTOL.
• Understanding of EASA’s CS25 and related standards, including ARP-4754, DO-254, DO-178, DO-160.
• Ability to review engineering documentation for compliance.
• Knowledge of failure modes in power distribution systems.

Preferred Skills:

• Active participation in EUROCAE working groups WG-112 SG-1 / WG-116 SG-1 or similar.
• Knowledge of IEC standards supporting certification.
• Connections within the aviation certification community.
• Understanding of electrical components and systems used in aviation.
• Familiarity with electrical monitoring and control systems.
• Experience with emerging electrical technologies in aerospace.
• Basic knowledge of communication buses and system integration.
