Job Description

Airbus Defence and Space is seeking a Software Engineer (d/m/w) for the Airspace Control C2 Solutions department. Our airspace control solutions support air force operators and command centers in managing airspace, air traffic control, surveillance, flight operations, and ground-based air defense. We design and develop airspace surveillance systems that reliably calculate and provide air situation data.

The connected sensor network evolves continuously, enabling optimization and new applications. We are looking for support in software development focused on data processing and fusion. This position can also be part-time with adjusted responsibilities.

Your Responsibilities
  • Maintain and develop existing software components and algorithms in multi-sensor tracking and sensor assessment.
  • Independently design, implement, test, and integrate new software features.
  • Create intuitive visualizations for data-driven decision-making.
  • Integrate software components into complex existing systems.
  • Plan and coordinate the optimization and maintenance of the development environment.
  • Collaborate with international teams to implement innovative software solutions.
Required Qualifications
  • Degree in mathematics, physics, computer science, or a comparable field.
  • Strong knowledge of applied mathematics, especially statistical methods.
  • Excellent programming skills in Java, Ada, and Python.
  • Experience with modern database technologies (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Hibernate).
  • Practical experience with agile development methods (e.g., SCRUM, KANBAN).
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and integrating complex software systems is a plus.
  • Linux experience (shell scripting, deployment) is advantageous.
  • Knowledge in airspace surveillance is desirable.
  • High initiative, team orientation, and structured working style.
  • Strong analytical skills to solve complex challenges.
  • Fluent in German and English, both spoken and written.
