Founded in Berlin, autarc is a 30-person start-up that recently graduated from Y Combinator in San Francisco. Our team includes professionals in Sales, Tech, and Operations, with the Engineering team currently comprising 11 members, aiming to grow to 14 by Q3 2025.

You will collaborate with our Senior Machine Learning Engineer and AI-focused Fullstack Engineer to support our deep tech products and features. Your role involves integrating natural language processing and large language models into our products, analyzing written data, and implementing generative text capabilities.

The position will also involve some work with Computer Vision, excluding LiDAR interactions, which are managed by our Senior ML Engineer.

Key tasks include:

• Designing, developing, and optimizing large language models for specific applications
• Fine-tuning and customizing pre-trained LLMs to enhance performance
• Implementing inference pipelines and model serving infrastructure efficiently
• Collaborating with product teams to convert business needs into technical solutions
• Supporting our Fullstack Engineer with tools to develop accessible UI
• Keeping abreast of the latest advances in LLM research

Role Description

You will work alongside our Senior Machine Learning Engineer and Fullstack Engineer to support our deep tech products. Your responsibilities include integrating NLP and LLMs, analyzing written data, and developing generative text features.

The role involves a split focus of 80% Machine Learning (NLP, LLM) and 20% Computer Vision tasks.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field
• At least 2 years of practical Machine Learning experience
• Proficiency in Python and frameworks like PyTorch or TensorFlow
• Experience with transformer models and NLP
• Knowledge of prompt engineering and LLM optimization
• Understanding of distributed computing and ML infrastructure
• Experience with deployment platforms like HuggingFace or MLflow
• Based in Berlin with a hybrid work preference (Mitte office)
• Fluent English; German is a plus
