The Digital R&D (DRD) organization at Covestro develops digital solutions for chemical research, including material simulations, automation, data science, high-performance computing, and quantum computing. We are expanding our team to harness artificial intelligence, especially large language models, to gain insights from unstructured data and support chemical research creatively.

We offer an attractive starting salary between €87,200 and €105,900 per year, plus a variable component for full-time employees, based on qualifications and experience.

In this role, you will:

• Support AI projects and initiatives
• Analyze requirements, identify relevant data and tools for LLMs and AI applications
• Develop, maintain, and automate chemical LLM pipelines
• Access confidential information sources via LLMs
• Maintain existing solutions
• Collaborate with cloud architects to automate and monitor pipelines

What you bring:

Required:

• Master’s degree in computer science, Machine Learning, AI, or related field, or equivalent industry experience
• Strong Python programming skills for data and ML pipelines
• Experience with deep learning frameworks like PyTorch and HuggingFace Transformers
• Knowledge of MLOps principles and tools
• Experience with cloud-based ML infrastructure, preferably on AWS

Preferred:

• Experience in large-scale LLM training (e.g., PyTorch Distributed, DeepSpeed)
• Expertise in ML evaluation, hyperparameter tuning, and error analysis
• Knowledge of NLP and IR is a plus
• Understanding of polymer chemistry principles
• Excellent communication skills in English
