In order to support Air Power Engineering Aerodynamics, Airbus Defence and Space is looking for an Advanced Aerodynamics Methods & Tools Engineer (d/f/m).

Our group handles aerodynamic design and characterization for all military aircraft programs throughout their lifecycle. We use numerical simulations, wind tunnel testing, and flight tests to understand aerodynamic behavior and provide data and models for stability & control, performance, loads, and aeroelastics. We also support production by assessing the aerodynamic impact of non-conformities, repairs, and in-service incidents.

We seek a skilled Aerodynamic Methods & Tools Developer with a strong background in numerical mathematics and computer science to enhance our expertise in simulation, algorithms, and modeling, driving innovations in aerodynamic design and analysis.

Your tasks and responsibilities
  • Develop and apply software for simulating and analyzing compressible turbulent flows around aircraft
  • Innovate for industrial applications within reasonable timeframes
  • Analyze aerodynamic shapes using numerical and theoretical methods for agile aircraft
  • Coordinate with disciplines like structures, loads, flight dynamics, and mass
  • Improve aerodynamic software tool chains
  • Develop and support software for aerodynamic data modeling
  • Collaborate with external research in aerodynamic methods and tools
Desired skills and qualifications
  • Higher education in numerical mathematics, computer science, aerospace, mechanical engineering, or similar
  • At least three years in numerical simulation
  • Proficiency in Python, C, C++
  • Team-oriented and eager to learn and grow
Preferred experience and skills
  • Linear/nonlinear solvers, algorithms, data structures, PDE discretization, turbulence modeling, mesh generation
