Job Description

Position: Advanced Aerodynamics Methods & Tools Engineer (d/f/m)

Airbus Defence and Space is seeking a skilled engineer to support Air Power Engineering Aerodynamics. Join a team of aerodynamic experts in Aerodynamic Design to innovate towards a more digital, sustainable, and safer future.

Our group handles aerodynamic design and characterization for military aircraft across their lifecycle, utilizing numerical simulations, wind tunnel testing, and flight tests to analyze aerodynamic behavior and provide data/models for stability & control, performance, loads, and aeroelastics. We also support production by assessing the aerodynamic impact of non-conformities, repairs, and in-service incidents.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Developing software for simulating and analyzing compressible turbulent flows around high and low aspect ratio aircrafts.
  2. Innovating within industrial applications with a focus on timely development, not fundamental research.
  3. Analyzing aerodynamic shapes through numerical and theoretical methods.
  4. Collaborating across disciplines such as structures, loads, flight dynamics, and mass.
  5. Improving aerodynamic software tool chains.
  6. Developing and supporting software for aerodynamic data modeling (aero dataset).
  7. Engaging with external research communities in aerodynamic methods and tools, aligned with company strategy.

Qualifications:

  • Higher education in numerical mathematics, computer science, aerospace or mechanical engineering, or equivalent.
  • At least three years of professional experience in numerical simulation.
  • Applied skills in Python, C, C++.
  • Interest in algorithms, data structures, complexity theory, discretization methods, turbulence modeling, mesh generation, and parallel software development.
  • Proficiency in English negotiation level; German skills are advantageous.

Location: Near Munich, Manching — offering a high quality of life with access to cultural activities and nearby cities.

Benefits: Attractive salary, 30 days paid vacation, upskilling opportunities, international development prospects, and various employee benefits including pension, stock options, and flexible working arrangements.

We value diversity and are committed to an inclusive work environment. Apply online to take your career to the next level with Airbus.
