This role is responsible for overseeing finance processes and controls for three entities located in Germany and France. The role reports to the Senior Accounting Manager based remotely in Dormagen.

The work involves performing a subset of daily transactions and overseeing the work of one accountant in Berlin and an offshore team. At month-end, the team prepares reconciliations and group-wide reporting for the entities. The role also manages external reporting deadlines, including tax filings and statistical reporting.

The candidate will join a motivated finance team that serves other departments, the managing director, the group finance team in Woburn MA, USA, and the offshore team. External communication primarily involves auditors and tax advisors in Germany and France.

What you will be doing :

Commercial Finance

• Act as a liaison between operational teams and the finance department to ensure effective communication and integration of business initiatives
• Work with the Senior Manager Accounting to maintain and improve finance processes and communication
• Support ad hoc projects to foster business growth and efficiency

Reporting & Compliance

• Assist in the preparation and review of monthly and quarterly US GAAP reports for the three entities
• Support the preparation of annual accounts under local GAAPs (German HGB), French GAAP, and tax returns and audits
• Perform and review key monthly balance sheet reconciliations and general journals
• Review payroll and personnel-related financial matters

What are we looking for :

• Experienced accountant with some team leadership responsibility
• Fluent in English and German (both written and verbal); French skills are a plus
• Experience working in an international environment with virtual teams and different time zones
• Knowledge of multiple accounting GAAPs, preferably including US GAAP and German HGB
• Experience with large ERP systems, preferably SAP
• Change management experience
• Dedicated, ambitious, and able to handle high work demands and shifting priorities
• Excellent communication skills for effective information exchange at all levels and with external providers
• Willingness to travel occasionally within EMEA (France and UK) and the USA
