As part of our Finance Team, you will have a central role in building out our in-house Accounting team to support a scaling company and you will play a key role in improving the setup of Workday Financials after go-live in Q1 2024. You will be the main point of contact to our external accountants, banks, tax advisors, auditors, the authorities and other financial stakeholders. You will get freedom to continuously improve and extend our financial tools and processes. This role reports into the Head of Finance.
What You Will Do
- As Accounting and Tax Lead you will work directly with the Head of Finance to bring the finance organization to the next level and make it ready to scale.
- You will have full ownership of finance operations, accounting and tax topics of our two legal entities in Germany and Spain.
- You will guide the transition from external to in-house accounting, ensure a smooth transition, lead a Junior Accountant and build out a strong team as Klang grows.
- We offer a greenfield environment to build best-in-class accounting workflows and processes around the Workday ERP.
- You will produce compliant month-end and annual closings, manage our annual audit process and ensure a timely closing.
- You will manage our cash balance, maintain relationships with our domestic and international banking partners.
- You will closely collaborate with our Senior Business Systems Manager and the Engineering Team and provide accounting and tax guidance while building out the Billing, Payment processing and VAT backbone of our game SEED.
- You will provide guidance on VAT and global sales tax topics and will work together with external advisors to ensure that Klang is compliant in all jurisdictions where we operate.
- You keep up to date with accounting principles and regulatory accounting developments in order to ensure the optimization of internal processes and provide accounting guidance to key stakeholders.
Who We Think Will Be A Great Fit:
- You have at least 5 years experience in an Accounting role at a tech startup or Big-4 Audit firm.
- You have first hand experience at managing in-house accounting and running a multi-entity consolidation process.
- Very good knowledge of HGB. IFRS would be a desired plus.
- You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, and German.
- You are a digital accounting native and have a deep understanding of best practices for digital accounting workflows.
- Experience with cloud ERPs is required, knowledge of Workday Financials would be a big plus.
- A Bachelor's degree in the field of Accounting or Taxation. We consider candidates without a university degree as well if they bring the necessary experience.
- You also possess good general IT literacy (Google Suite - especially Docs, Sheets, Slides) and can work collaboratively.
- You have a flexible, open personality, and you are a strong team player.
- You are good with people and can successfully enforce deadlines and policies with a friendly touch.
- You are resourceful, take initiative and don’t shy away from finding your own solutions to problems.
- You are detail oriented and take pride in your work product.
