Overview

Accountant – 12 month fixed-term contract in Heilbronn, Germany (Weir Minerals). Hybrid

Weir Minerals Germany needs an accountant to be the primary point of contact for all finance related activities in Germany. This role reports into the UK Financial Controller and will work closely with the UK finance team. The accountant will oversee all financial postings in the company’s SAP system and ensure that the right financial controls and processes are in place.

The accountant will work with the WBS shared service team in respect of accounts payable, cash applications and month end activities. This person will also work with KPMG and Deloitte in the preparation of indirect and direct tax returns and be a key point of contact for the tax authorities, auditors and the bank. This role will support the UK finance team in respect of cash collections and customer disputes. The accountant will work with the wider business / finance team on other ad-hoc requests as required.

Responsibilities
  • Financial Oversight & Control: Oversee and control financial postings by the global shared service team, including purchase invoices, cash applications, and month-end journals. Liaise with the team on supplier queries and support UK finance with cash collections, customer disputes, and payment terms.
  • Taxation & Compliance: Review indirect and direct tax returns prepared by KPMG and Deloitte, respond to related queries, and ensure timely CIT payments. Act as the primary contact for tax authorities and support transfer pricing reports and tax investigations.
  • Statutory Reporting & Audit: Collaborate with the UK finance team and KPMG on annual statutory accounts and audits. Serve as the main point of contact for external auditors and assist with monthly FX grids and cashflow matters.
  • Business Support & Strategic Analysis: Partner with the wider business on cost control, commercial contract reviews, tenders, and margin analysis. Handle other ad-hoc tasks as required.

Qualifications
  • Qualified and experienced accountant (“Bilanzbuchhalter”) with an excellent track record as a specialist accountant. Fully capable of preparing annual accounts in accordance with HGB and IFRS.
  • Solid understanding of national and international accounting standards (HGB, IFRS) and proficient in SAP FI.
  • Fluent in German with excellent written and spoken English, enabling effective communication across international teams and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates high analytical skills and the ability to resolve complex problems involving multiple variables in standardized situations.
