We're recruiting for a Senior Accessibility Specialist here at Justice Digital, Data and Science to be part of our warm and collaborative Digital Accessibility team, in the Delivery Governance Office. In the Digital Accessibility team, we work as a cross-cutting team, supporting the wider department. To collaborate with them in building accessible digital products and services, we partner with teams to provide ongoing support or we deliver a specific accessibility consultancy service. To spread accessibility knowledge throughout the MoJ, we create and run accessibility courses, write and distribute guidance and host an Accessibility Champions network. We're a multi-disciplinary, distributed team who work on a hybrid basis. Whilst we do work independently, we have regular sessions to plan the workload and review past work. We value kindness, curiosity and continuous learning, and create space for people to grow their expertise and influence at scale., Setting and sharing best practice for inclusive accessibility user research, by writing guidance, running training and creating workshops Influencing and advising on inclusive user testing approaches with user researchers Building relationships with the user research community and stakeholders across the justice landscape to raise the profile of accessibility (including both people in technical and non-technical roles) Liaising with recruitment specialists to recruit users access needs Providing guidance and support for user research colleagues around the ethics of working with proxy users and use of AI in user research relating to accessibility Setting up and managing ethical accessibility panels within the organisation Running our Accessibility bars and accessibility persona sessions If this feels like an exciting challenge, something you are enthusiastic about, and want to join our team

Essential Experience conducting User Research with users with access needs. Ability to create guidance and training to upskill colleagues on how to conduct inclusive user research. Ability to build relationships with digital colleagues across the organisation, including the user research community. Ability to build relationships with stakeholder groups, including charities, and disability networks. Willingness to be assessed against the requirements for BPSS clearance

  • Base salary for this role is from £58,511 - £65,329 (National) or £63,343 - £70,725 (London) New entrants to the Civil Service joining the MoJ are expected to start at the minimum of the pay band. Existing Civil Servants moving on a level transfer will retain their current base salary or move to the minimum of the pay band for the role, whichever is higher. Existing Civil Servants who are promoted will either move to the bottom of the new grade's pay band or receive a 10% uplift, whichever provides the greater increase.
