Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU) is one of the largest universities in Germany. The business education program at the Faculty of Law and Economics at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz has, among other things, a didactic focus in the context of digital transformation. This applies to both the Bachelor's program and the two Master's programs (M.Ed. and M.Sc.). The position holder will be responsible for teaching and examination tasks within the Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes in business education as well as in the field of didactics of (business) informatics and digitalization.

  • Conception of new digitally supported and didactic teaching and learning offers, including didactic and conceptual development
  • Conception, implementation and follow-up of teaching-learning arrangements and courses on business education (specialised) didactics and innovative topics in empirical vocational training research
  • Design and implementation of interdisciplinary teaching formats, in particular with reference to business didactics
  • Didactic and conceptual further development of the teaching-learning program in the areas of lesson development and pedagogical performance diagnostics
  • Collaboration in the creation and introduction of innovative, digitally supported teaching and learning concepts and teaching and learning media
  • Further development of cross-institutional cooperation with other teacher training institutions in the design of courses
  • Methodological advice for students and doctoral candidates in business education
  • Collaboration in the further development of existing degree programs
  • Implementation of research-oriented teaching in the context of research projects in business education
  • Implementation of innovative research-oriented teaching and learning projects in the department

Applicants must meet the recruitment requirements stipulated in § 58 in conjunction with § 57 of the Hochschulgesetz of Rhineland-Palatinate.

  • A successfully completed scientific university degree (minimum grade 2.0)in teacher training programs in the field of business education, preferably with a second subject (business) informatics
  • Doctorate in the field of business education orempirical vocational education research (at least magna cum laude)
  • A successfully completed preparatory service for the teaching profession at vocational schools with the subjects economics and (business) informatics (2nd state examination; at least 2.0)
  • Generally at least three years post-graduation full-time working experience
  • Academic aptitude, demonstrated by the quality of the doctorateand relevant publications in international journals
  • Sound knowledge of current empirical educational research, in particular business didactics and digital transformation, proven by relevant publications
  • Outstanding academic and didactic aptitude, proven by independent teaching experience and teaching evaluations
  • Ability to teach courses in German and English
  • Experience in
    • research projects in the field of empirical vocational training research and digitalization
    • cross-institutional cooperation with other teacher training institutions and research facilities is an advantage
    • working in university and non-university committees is an advantage

The position is remunerated according to salary grade A 13 LBesG and to be filled on 01.10.2025. This is a permanent civil servant position.

A promotion to an office in grade A 14 LBesG at a later date is possible, provided that the civil service requirements are met. If the requirements under civil service law are not or not yet met, an appointment as a research assistant (EG 13 TV-L) may be considered first.
