Job summary

One Mobility is seeking a 2D Design Engineer to develop wiring harness drawings for modern Mercedes-Benz platforms in Germany. You will create, maintain, and optimize technical documentation in wiring systems, ensuring compliance with Mercedes-Benz standards and internal procedures.

You'll collaborate with 3D design, electrical architecture, packaging, manufacturing, and suppliers, manage BOMs, and support engineering changes. Strong CAD skills and MB process knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

• Completed technical education or degree in automotive/electrical fields.
• Experience in wiring harness development within Mercedes-Benz environment.
• Strong knowledge of 2D CAD systems and MB tools.
• Familiarity with Mercedes-Benz development processes (Dialog system Jira) is a plus.
• Good understanding of automotive electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, create, and modify 2D wiring harness drawings per MB standards.
• Develop electrical circuit diagrams to support wiring system definitions.
• Convert routing strategies into engineering drawings and docs.
• Manage BOMs and design documentation ensuring traceability.

We are looking for

2D Design Engineer (Wiring Harness Development) (m/f/d)

at one of our locations in EMEA region - in Germany, Reutlingen

Your tasks:

As part of the OneMobility project, you will support the development of electrical wiring harnesses for modern Mercedes-Benz vehicle platforms. As a 2D Design Engineer, you will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and optimizing drawings and technical documentation in the field of wiring system development.

• Design, create, and modify 2D wiring harness drawings in accordance with Mercedes-Benz engineering standards and technical specifications.
• Develop electrical circuit diagrams to support the definition and implementation of vehicle wiring systems.
• Convert routing strategies, packaging concepts, and installation requirements into accurate engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Manage and maintain bills of materials (BOMs) and design documentation, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and traceability.
• Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams, including: 3D design, electrical architecture, packaging engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers, to ensure efficient project execution and design alignment.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant standards, specifications, quality requirements, and internal engineering procedures.
• Support change management and release activities by evaluating, documenting, and implementing engineering modifications.
• Drive continuous improvement of wiring harness layouts by optimizing cost, weight, packaging efficiency, and manufacturability.

• Completed technical education or degree, e.g.: Automotive engineering, Electrical engineering, Mechanical engineering, Technical draftsman / product designer
• Experience in wiring harness development / electrical distribution system development within the Mercedes-Benz environment required
• Strong knowledge of 2D CAD systems, ideally including: Capital Harness (LDorado), Engineering Base (EB Cable), E3.series or comparable tools
• Experience with Mercedes-Benz development processes (e.g., Dialog system Jira) is a plus
• Good understanding of automotive electrical systems
• Structured, independent, and team-oriented working style
• Good command of German and English
