WSP in Bogotá is seeking a Wind Energy Analyst to join our Renewable Resource Assessment Team. You will assess wind resources, energy production, and project performance for utility-scale developments, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

The role emphasizes wind flow modeling (CFD/mesoscale), data handling in Python/MATLAB, and preparing client deliverables. Strong communication and mentoring skills are valued for project development.

Formación

  • 6–9 years in wind energy or renewable resource assessment.
  • Experience performing wind resource assessments and energy production estimates for utility-scale projects.
  • Experience with meteorological data, climate datasets, and performance metrics is desirable.

Responsabilidades

  • Analyze wind resources and energy production for wind energy projects.
  • Perform wind flow modeling using CFD and mesoscale techniques.
  • Develop wind resource calculations and energy yield assessments.
  • Evaluate wind farm performance and identify optimization opportunities.
  • Conduct uncertainty analyses for measurements, models, and forecasts.
  • Support turbine selection and layout optimization to maximize energy production.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and client deliverables.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to methodology development.

As part of our continued growth in the Onshore Renewables sector, we are seeking a highly motivated Wind Energy Analyst to join our Renewable Resource Assessment Team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to innovative wind energy projects while working alongside a talented team of industry experts committed to driving the energy transition.

What You'll Do

As a Wind Energy Analyst, you will play a key role in assessing wind resources, energy production, and project performance for utility-scale renewable energy developments. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Analyzing meteorological and operational wind farm data using specialized software tools and internal analytical methodologies.
  • Performing wind resource assessments and energy production analyses for existing and proposed wind energy projects.
  • Conducting wind flow modeling using advanced techniques, including Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and mesoscale modeling.
  • Developing and executing wind resource calculations and energy yield assessments.
  • Evaluating wind farm performance and identifying opportunities for optimization.
  • Performing statistical analyses to quantify uncertainty associated with measurements, models, and energy forecasts.
  • Supporting turbine selection and wind farm layout optimization to maximize energy production and minimize project risk.
  • Conducting shadow flicker, noise impact, and climate suitability analyses.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on project development, design, and due diligence activities.
  • Organizing, managing, and analyzing geospatial data using GIS tools.
  • Preparing technical reports, presentations, and client deliverables.
  • Providing technical guidance and support to clients through meetings, presentations, email communications, and technical discussions.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and contributing to the development of innovative renewable energy assessment methodologies.
  • Mentoring junior team members and reviewing technical work as required.
What You'll Bring
Education
  • Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Energy, Environmental, or related disciplines)
  • Or a related technical discipline
Experience
  • Between 6 and 9 years of professional experience in the wind energy industry, renewable energy sector, meteorological analysis, or renewable resource assessment.
  • Proven experience performing wind resource assessments, energy production estimates, and technical evaluations for utility-scale wind energy projects.
  • Experience evaluating meteorological phenomena, climate datasets, and renewable energy performance metrics is highly desirable.
  • Experience supporting project development, feasibility studies, due diligence, or operational performance assessments is considered an asset.
Technical Skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Python and/or MATLAB for data analysis, modeling, automation, and reporting.
  • Experience with wind flow modeling software such as OpenWind, Meteodyn, or equivalent platforms.
  • Strong understanding of wind resource assessment methodologies and uncertainty analysis.
  • Experience using GIS software and managing geospatial datasets.
  • Knowledge of wind turbine technologies, wind farm design, and renewable energy economics.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneNote).
