Platzi seeks a Senior Software Engineer to build and own the systems behind our product used by millions of students across Latin America. You’ll design data models, services, and interfaces that scale with growth and handle load, failures, and recovery.

You will work closely with the Growth Marketing team, report to the Engineering Manager, and prioritize maintainability and cost over time. You will make clear tradeoffs and defend your architectural choices.

Formación

• 5+ years shipping and operating software in production.
• Strong fundamentals in data modeling, APIs, performance and concurrency.
• Experience owning a system at scale or during a migration.
• Ability to weigh technical decisions against business needs.
• Fluent English and Spanish.

Summary

As a Senior Software Engineer at Platzi you build and own the systems behind the product millions of students use in Latin America: the data model, the services, how they behave under load, and how they recover when they break. You work very close to the Growth Marketing team, and you report to the Engineering Manager. Seniority here means judgment, not distance from the code. You take an ambiguous problem and come back with a decision you can defend, including the decision not to build, and you care about what your code costs to run and to maintain a year from now, not only about getting it merged.

Responsibilities

• Design and build services, data models and interfaces that hold up as the product and the traffic grow.
• Own what you build in production: performance, reliability, cost, and how it recovers when it breaks.
• Make architecture decisions you can defend, and say no to complexity that doesn't pay for itself.
• Use AI and LLMs to go faster on design, implementation and review, and review what they produce as strictly as your own code.
• Raise the bar around you through code review, standards, and the calls that stop bad decisions early.

Requirements

• At least 5 years shipping and operating software in production, with real depth in system design.
• Strong fundamentals: data modeling, APIs, performance, concurrency and failure modes.
• You've owned a system through real scale or a migration, and can explain what you'd do differently now.
• You can weigh a technical decision against what the business needs, and explain the tradeoff to people who don't code.
• Fluent English and Spanish.
