AgileEngine is seeking a Software Architect to assess the platform's architecture and define a target-state design for an FDA-regulated SaaS product. You will lead architecture decisions and mentor a cross-functional team across PHP, C++, and JavaScript.

Qualifications

• Lead software architect or senior technical leader with proven success.
• 8+ years in PHP, C++, or JavaScript.
• Strong fundamentals: SOLID/GRASP and modern architecture patterns.
• Experience with Domain-Driven Design and clean/Hexagonal architectures.
• Experience designing SaMD and regulatory compliance.
• Experience designing APIs, data models, and integration layers.
• Experience debt remediation and large-scale refactoring.
• Strong CI/CD, security, auditability, and private cloud.
• Excellent communication and ability to mentor remote teams.
• Upper-intermediate English.

Responsibilities

• Assess current architecture and data flows to identify debt and scalability constraints.
• Define target-state architecture with DDD and clean architecture principles.
• Design denormalized storage to accelerate read-heavy queries.
• Develop and execute a phased architectural roadmap with backward compatibility.
• Establish engineering standards and coding guidelines.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership to a mixed-technology team (PHP, C++, JS).
• Improve development workflows, CI/CD, testing procedures and releases.
• Mentor and transfer knowledge through reviews and architectural documentation.
