AgileEngine, a fast-growing software partner, is seeking a Software Architect to assess the platform's architecture and define a target-state design for an FDA-regulated SaaS product.

You will lead architectural decisions, shape a boundary-aligned design using DDD and clean architecture, and mentor a small team across PHP, C++, and JavaScript.

This role offers remote and office options, a USD-based compensation package, and the chance to influence critical systems for Fortune 500 brands.

Qualifications

• Lead Software Architect or senior technical leader with proven track record.
• 8+ years in PHP/C++/JavaScript stack.
• Solid fundamentals: SOLID/GRASP and modern architecture patterns.
• Experience with layered architectures: DDD, Anti-Corruption Layer, Hexagonal or clean architecture.
• Experience designing SaMD in regulatory environments.
• Experience designing APIs and data models in multi-language systems.
• Experience reducing technical debt and leading large-scale refactors.
• Strong CI/CD, security, auditability in private clouds.
• Excellent communication and mentoring across remote teams.
• Upper-intermediate English.

Responsibilities

• Assess current architecture to identify debt and scalability constraints.
• Define target-state architecture aligned with DDD and clean architecture.
• Design denormalized storage for read-heavy queries and trade-offs.
• Create phased roadmap and refactor strategy while preserving backward compatibility.
• Establish coding standards and architectural decision processes.
• Provide hands-on leadership to a mixed-technology team (PHP, C++, JS).
• Improve CI/CD, testing, and release processes.
• Mentor team and document architecture for future maintenance.
