BairesDev (Remote) is seeking a Software Engineer specializing in query engine internals to design and optimize core components of high-performance database systems. You will connect high-level query requirements with hardware efficiencies to ensure rapid, scalable data processing across distributed environments.

You will architect and implement advanced query planners and optimizers, develop vectorized engines, and integrate frameworks like Calcite or Spark Catalyst.

Formación

• 4+ years in software engineering focused on database or query engine internals.
• Experience with query planners, optimizers, and execution engines.
• Proficiency in Java or C++ and systems programming.
• Experience with Parquet or Iceberg columnar formats.
• Knowledge of Calcite, Spark Catalyst, or Impala.
• Strong English skills.

Responsabilidades

• Architect and implement advanced query planners and optimizers to improve data retrieval efficiency.
• Develop vectorized execution engines to leverage SIMD for massive parallel processing.
• Design and maintain storage layers optimized for columnar data formats.
• Integrate Calcite, Spark Catalyst, or Impala into the database stack.
• Collaborate with infra teams to resolve bottlenecks and scale engine throughput.
