EPAM Systems is seeking a Senior Java Developer to join our team in Colombia. You will design, develop, and maintain backend services in Java, build REST APIs for mobile apps and integrations, and work with MySQL for data modeling and optimization.

You will contribute to scalable backend architectures, ensure clean, secure, and well-tested code, and collaborate with cross-functional teams in a distributed environment. Strong English and 3+ years of hands-on Java experience are required.

Formación

• Minimum 3 years hands-on Java development experience.
• Strong REST API design and API development experience.
• Experience designing or working with microservices and distributed systems.
• Good knowledge of MySQL, SQL, relational data modeling, and query optimization.
• Understanding of software design principles and clean code practices.
• Experience with unit and integration testing and familiarity with modern testing frameworks.
• Understanding of application security fundamentals, authentication, authorization, and secure API development.
• Familiarity with Git-based development workflows, CI/CD, and modern software delivery practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to take ownership of tasks through completion.
• Excellent English language skills (B2 level or higher).

• Contribute to automated testing, observability, logging, and overall application reliability.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools where applicable to improve development productivity, code quality, testing, and problem-solving.

We are looking for a Senior Java Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate has strong hands‑on experience with Java backend development, Spring Boot, REST APIs, microservices, and relational databases. We are looking for someone who can work independently, understand existing systems quickly, contribute to technical decisions, and collaborate effectively within a cross‑functional engineering team.

Requirements

• Experience with unit and integration testing and familiarity with modern testing frameworks
• Understanding of application security fundamentals, authentication, authorization, and secure API development
• Familiarity with Git‑based development workflows, CI/CD, and modern software delivery practices
• Experience troubleshooting production applications using logs, metrics, and other observability tools
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to take ownership of tasks through completion
• Good communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a distributed, cross‑functional team
• Excellent English language skills (B2 level or higher)

Nice to have

• Experience working within cloud environments for deploying, scaling, and managing backend applications
• Familiarity with AI‑assisted software development tools to support coding, testing, and problem‑solving tasks
