EPAM Systems is seeking a Senior Java Developer to join our team in Colombia. You will design, develop, and maintain backend services in Java, build REST APIs for mobile apps and integrations, and work with MySQL for data modeling and optimization.

You will contribute to scalable backend architectures, ensure clean, secure, and well-tested code, and collaborate with cross-functional teams in a distributed environment. Strong English and 3+ years of hands-on Java experience are required.

Formación

• Minimum 3 years hands-on Java development experience.
• Strong REST API design and API development experience.
• Experience designing or working with microservices and distributed systems.
• Good knowledge of MySQL, SQL, relational data modeling, and query optimization.
• Understanding of software design principles and clean code practices.
• Experience with unit and integration testing and familiarity with modern testing frameworks.
• Understanding of application security fundamentals, authentication, authorization, and secure API development.
• Familiarity with Git-based development workflows, CI/CD, and modern software delivery practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to take ownership of tasks through completion.
• Excellent English language skills (B2 level or higher).

Responsabilidades

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java.
• Develop and enhance REST APIs supporting mobile applications and integrations with external systems.
• Work with MySQL, including data modeling, query development, optimization, and troubleshooting.
• Contribute to the design and evolution of scalable and maintainable backend and microservices architecture.
• Implement clean, reliable, secure, and well-tested code following software engineering best practices.
• Investigate and resolve defects, performance issues, and production problems.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, estimation, and solution design.
• Collaborate with mobile developers, product stakeholders, QA engineers, and other backend engineers to deliver end-to-end functionality.
• Contribute to automated testing, observability, logging, and overall application reliability.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools where applicable to improve development productivity, code quality, testing, and problem-solving.
