EPAM Systems in Colombia seeks a Senior Software Engineer specializing in PHP and MySQL to join our engineering team. You will develop scalable PHP APIs, collaborate with product and design teams, and deliver web applications using best development practices for our core platform and other products.

You will participate in all stages of the software lifecycle, write clean, testable code, and drive improvements in performance, scalability, and security across distributed systems.

Formación

• 3+ years of PHP programming experience.
• MySQL expertise or equivalent.
• Background in HTML, JS/TS and SASS/SCSS.
• Familiarity with Git and distributed systems concepts.
• Ability to perform time and memory complexity analysis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (B2+).

We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Software Engineer with PHP and MySQL to join our Engineering team. You'll work closely with our product and design teams to support new and ongoing development of our web-based applications, contribute technical expertise to product decisions, and deliver successful implementations of product ideas using best development practices for our core platform and other products.

Responsibilities

• Architect and develop scalable PHP APIs, services, and solutions from concept to production as part of a focused product team
• Engage in all aspects of the software development process, including design, development, testing, deployment, code reviews, debugging, and documentation
• Solve complex problems by designing and developing software within the context of large-scale distributed systems
• Write clean, reusable, and quality code, adhering to best practices (and contribute towards continuous improvement of those practices)
• Ensure that technical decisions support goals of quality, performance, scalability, reliability, availability, and security
• Build new features with a focus on testability and extensibility
• Optimize existing software for improved efficiency
• Encourage innovation and foster an environment of continuous improvement
• Advocate for modern development practices and tools

Requirements

• 3+ years of PHP programming experience
• Expertise in MySQL or similar technology
• Background in HTML, JS/TS, and SASS/SCSS
• Familiarity with Git
• Strong understanding of Distributed Systems
• Ability to perform time and memory complexity analysis
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency in English at an Upper-Intermediate level (B2) or higher

Nice to have

• Background in caching technologies (e.g., Redis)
• Experience with a modern JS framework (Angular and Bootstrap are a bonus)
• Knowledge of optimization in PHP
