Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Principal Engineer - Telecommunications for Data Centers to lead ICT design across large facilities on-site in Colombia. The role focuses on integrated structured cabling, coordination with architectural and electrical teams, and delivering robust ICT solutions for complex data center environments.

The candidate should have a bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of relevant experience, English fluency, and hold or be eligible for a BICSI RCDD certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university plus 6 years of relevant ICT design experience or an equivalent combination.
• Intermediate level of English, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Design structured cabling systems, copper and fiber.
• Define cable pathways/containment and spaces for multiple service providers and redundant entry paths.
• Specify racks elevations including ODFs, patch panels, and other passive components.
• Ensure compliance with Codes, standards and regulations.
• Develop drawings, technical specifications, and bills of quantities.
• Coordinate with architecture, structural, electrical, mechanical, security, and operations teams.
• Collaborate to integrate security, building automation, energy and power management, and IP-based technologies.
• Apply ICT infrastructure knowledge to survey, design, develop and administer ICT projects.
