Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Principal Engineer - Electrical Engineering (Data Centers) to lead electrical systems design for data centers in Colombia. The role emphasizes power distribution, emergency systems, and detailed design documentation for mission-critical facilities.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years in electrical engineering with data center experience, proficiency with AutoCAD/ETAP/Revit, and strong knowledge of industry standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering is required.
• 6+ years of professional experience in electrical engineering with data center focus.
• Experience with data center power systems, load calculations, and redundancy planning.
• Knowledge of data center standards (Uptime Institute, TIA-942, NEC, IEEE).
• Proficiency with electrical design/analysis tools and building codes.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for data centers including power distribution and emergency systems.
• Conduct load calculations and capacity planning for scalable data centers.
• Select electrical equipment (transformers, switchgear, UPS, panels).
• Incorporate redundancy and fault tolerance in designs.
• Coordinate with mechanical/HVAC for integrated systems.
• Prepare design documents and specifications for clients and contractors.
• Supervise testing, commissioning, and site reviews.
