We are looking for a Senior Salesforce Marketing Cloud Developer with strong hands-on expertise in AMPscript, SQL, Automation Studio, and Journey Builder.
You will independently build, troubleshoot, and maintain multiple campaigns within Salesforce Marketing Cloud Engagement. This role requires a technical developer who can translate requirements into reliable solutions, investigate issues, and take ownership of delivery without continuous technical supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop advanced email personalization using AMPscript, including data retrieval, conditional logic, lookup functions, and error handling.
- Write and optimize SQL queries for segmentation, deduplication, audience preparation, and campaign reporting.
- Use SFMC Data Views to retrieve and connect send, open, click, and journey performance data.
- Build and maintain automations using SQL Query, Import, File Transfer, and Data Extract activities.
- Configure customer journeys, including entry sources, re-entry rules, decision splits, engagement splits, and contact evaluation.
- Design and maintain Data Extensions and support data relationships in Contact Builder.
- Build and maintain CloudPages, forms, and preference centers.
- Support integrations through Marketing Cloud APIs and Marketing Cloud Connect.
- Monitor campaign execution, investigate automation failures, and troubleshoot data and personalization issues.
- Document implementations and follow development, testing, review, and release standards.
- Manage several campaigns simultaneously, communicating progress, dependencies, and risks proactively.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on development experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud Engagement, demonstrating technical depth and ownership of production implementations.
- Advanced SQL skills within SFMC, including JOINs, window functions such as ROW_NUMBER(), deduplication, Data Views, and audience segmentation.
- Strong AMPscript development skills, including LookupRows, conditional personalization, text functions, and understanding of lookup limitations and execution behavior.
- Hands-on expertise in Automation Studio, with the ability to explain and build complete workflows involving file handling, imports, SQL processing, and audience updates.
- Strong Journey Builder expertise, including Entry Sources, Journey Data versus Contact Data, re-entry configuration, Decision Splits, and Engagement Splits.
- Experience with Email Studio, Data Extensions, and Contact Builder.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot technical issues and deliver campaigns independently.
- Ability to prioritize and maintain multiple concurrent campaigns.
- Fluent English and Spanish, including the ability to explain technical decisions and resolve requirements in English.
- Availability to work US business hours.
SQL, AMPscript, Automation Studio, and Journey Builder are essential and will be assessed through practical technical scenarios.
Preferred Qualifications
- Salesforce Marketing Cloud Engagement Developer certification.
- Salesforce Marketing Cloud Email Specialist or Administrator certifications.
- Experience developing CloudPages, forms, and preference centers with consent capture.
- Working knowledge of SSJS and GTL.
- Experience with REST/SOAP APIs, installed packages, authentication, and Marketing Cloud Connect.
- Familiarity with Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Data Cloud, or Account Engagement.
- Experience using Git, code reviews, and structured release processes.
- Understanding of GDPR, consent management, and email deliverability best practices.
Role Context
You will work as an individual technical contributor within the Colombia hub, coordinating with the Salesforce Delivery Lead TPM & B2C and international stakeholders.
You will be expected to own day-to-day implementation and troubleshooting without relying on dedicated technical support from the client team. Success requires sound technical judgment, proactive communication, and the ability to deliver multiple campaigns with limited supervision.
Candidates with around five years of relevant SFMC experience can be a strong fit when their practical technical knowledge and autonomy meet the requirements.
Selection Process
The technical interview will assess your ability to:
- Deduplicate a Data Extension using SQL while retaining the latest record per SubscriberKey.
- Retrieve and relate journey engagement metrics using SFMC Data Views.
- Implement AMPscript personalization using data from Data Extensions.
- Design an automation covering file receipt, import, SQL processing, and audience preparation.
- Explain Journey Data versus Contact Data and configure contact re-entry.
Please highlight projects where you personally developed and supported these capabilities, including the technical challenges you resolved.
