AgileEngine is seeking a Ruby on Rails Developer to design, build, and maintain backend APIs with a focus on performance, scalability, and security. You will work on Rails code against PostgreSQL databases, participate in code reviews, and collaborate with stakeholders to define API requirements.

The role is remote with a required 4-hour overlap with MDT for LatAm candidates and a minimum 2-hour overlap for Ukraine-based candidates; strong English skills are required.

Formación

• 3+ years of Ruby on Rails experience.
• Strong command of API design patterns and Rails best practices.
• Solid understanding of HTTP protocols and JSON data structures.
• Experience with relational databases, e.g. PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively in a remote setup.
• Role requires LATAM overlap with MDT (4 hours); Ukraine overlap (2 hours) – more overlap is beneficial.
• Upper-intermediate English level.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You will write clean, well-tested Rails code against PostgreSQL databases, participate in code reviews and technical discussions, and collaborate with stakeholders to define and fulfill API requirements. The role is remote with a required 4-hour overlap with MDT for LatAm candidates.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

MUST HAVES

• 3+ years of experience working with Ruby on Rails.
• Strong command of API design patterns and best practices in Rails.
• Solid understanding of HTTP protocols and JSON data structures.

• Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively in a remote setup.
• In terms of working hours: The role will mostly follow the LATAM time zone, with a required 4-hour overlap with Colorado (MDT). For Ukraine-based candidates, a minimum of 2-hour overlap with MDT is required — though the more overlap, the better.
• Upper-intermediate English level.

NICE TO HAVES

• Experience with background job processing, e.g. Sidekiq.
• Familiarity with API documentation tools, e.g. Swagger/OpenAPI.
• Exposure to Docker or other container technologies.
• Experience working with distributed teams.
