Hire Hangar, Inc. is seeking a Senior Medical Billing Specialist to manage end-to-end billing and denial resolution within a fast-growing organization.

You will work remotely across US time zones, ensuring accurate claims submission and proactive denial management to secure timely reimbursement. The role requires 3–5 years in medical billing, experience with payers and clearinghouses, and strong proficiency in CPT/HCPCS codes, Medicaid requirements, and Excel.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of medical billing, claims follow-up, or payer resolution experience (Medi-Cal/Medicaid preferred).
• Demonstrated experience working claims through clearinghouses, payers, and denial management systems.
• Strong understanding of CPT/HCPCS codes, modifiers, ICD-10 codes, and Medicaid billing requirements.
• Experience validating claims within an EHR system (experience highly preferred).
• Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills - filters, VLOOKUP, and pivot tables preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to navigate payer conversations professionally.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and skilled at managing multiple claim queues simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Submit clean claims regularly for all service lines, ensuring timely submission.
• Validate claims against clinical documentation and encounter notes, ensuring required fields are complete.
• Monitor clearinghouse reports for rejections and errors; correct and resubmit promptly.
• Maintain claims submission schedules to meet payer deadlines and internal billing cycles.
• Take ownership of denials; resolve issues and resubmit within payer timelines.
• Document denial reasons and communications in internal trackers; analyze trends for root causes.
• Cross-check claims against clinical data to ensure documentation supports billed services.
• Assist in month-end reconciliation of payments, adjustments, and unresolved claims.
• Prepare reports on claim submission volumes, denial rates, and payer trends.
• Contribute to ongoing improvements of RCM workflows and billing policies.
• Collaborate with Authorization Specialists and Care Managers to verify approvals.
