Job summary

Higher Options is seeking a Senior Accountant / Financial Controller to support the financial operations of a U.S.-based hospitality group. This remote role requires 40 hours weekly with overlap in U.S. Central Time.

You will own QuickBooks Online records, classify transactions, and prepare multi-entity monthly statements while ensuring accuracy and timely close. The ideal candidate has 4+ years of accounting, a Bachelor’s degree (CPA a plus), and strong English communication.

Qualifications

• Hands-on QuickBooks Online experience with multi-entity accounting.
• Strong understanding of financial statements and the P&L, balance sheet, and related transactions.
• Ability to explain the logic behind transaction classifications and analyze trends.
• Experience with multi-entity accounting and reconciliations.
• Deep knowledge of general ledger and month-end close procedures.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in fast-paced environments.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain accurate accounting records in QuickBooks Online.
• Review and classify transactions with impact on income statement and balance sheet.
• Prepare and review monthly financial statements across entities.
• Analyze month-over-month results and flag unusual or inconsistent numbers.
• Reconcile bank and balance sheet accounts, intercompany, and key accounts.
• Lead month-end and year-end close processes with timeliness.
• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
• Support payroll review, allocations, and reporting across entities.
• Monitor cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting needs.
• Maintain inventory, COGS, fixed assets, and general ledger records.
• Support tax compliance, audit readiness, and coordination with external accountants.
• Improve accounting workflows, documentation, and SOPs.
• Partner with founders to provide clear financial insights.
