Job summary

Backblaze is seeking a Software Engineer to build and maintain open source AI integrations and frameworks that integrate with Backblaze B2 Cloud Storage. You will work on production-quality open source assets, contribute to external repositories, and validate AI workflows with agent-based systems.

The role emphasizes hands-on development with AI coding agents and modern AI tools, collaborating with product and QA to reflect real customer AI workflows and Backblaze B2 usage patterns.

Qualifications

• Experience contributing to open source projects in at least one widely used language.
• Experience maintaining public repositories with external contributors.
• Understanding of AI workflows, data ingestion, preprocessing, inference, and agent systems.
• Production-quality coding with strong testing and documentation.
• Excellent written communication focused on developer experience.

Responsibilities

• Use AI coding agents to build coding harnesses to accelerate development, testing, and maintenance of public and internal applications, SDKs, notebooks, and reference implementations that demonstrate AI and cloud storage best practices.
• Implement and maintain open source AI integrations, frameworks and example applications using languages commonly used in the open source ecosystem, including Python, TypeScript, Go, and Rust.
• Use AI-assisted development tools, including Claude Code, to accelerate implementation while validating correctness, security, and performance.
• Contribute to open source projects through code contributions, issue triage, reviews, and ongoing maintenance.
• Ensure all open source assets meet high standards for testing, documentation, reproducibility, and developer usability.
• Maintain clean, well-structured GitHub repositories intended for external adoption and community contribution.
• Collaborate with Product and QA to ensure integrations reflect real customer AI workflows and Backblaze B2 usage patterns.
