Qualifications

Responsibilities

• In-Sprint Automation Execution: design, develop, and maintain Playwright scripts for active sprint automation
• AI-Driven Engineering: implement AI tools to generate test cases from acceptance criteria and analyze root causes

We are seeking an experienced Lead QA Automation Engineer to drive quality strategy and technical execution for a strategic, AI-First software project in partnership with a leading US-based commercial and retail banking institution.

In this role, you will combine technical expertise with QA leadership—defining automation standards, mentoring the engineering team, driving in-sprint automation, and integrating artificial intelligence tools into daily quality workflows.

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum of 5+ years in QA Automation, including proven experience leading QA initiatives or mentoring technical teams.
• Core Stack: Expert-level proficiency in Playwright using TypeScript.
• Architecture: Solid experience designing and scaling frameworks using the Page Object Model (POM) pattern, custom fixtures, and reusable utility classes.
• CI/CD: Practical experience integrating automated tests with GitHub repositories and GitHub Actions pipelines.
• Test Management: Proficiency with Jira and modern test management tools, preferably AIO Tests.
• AI Tooling: Demonstrated experience using AI-assisted tools to accelerate script generation, enhance debugging, and optimize test coverage.
• Leadership Capabilities: Strong cross-functional communication, decision-making, and team enablement skills.

Job responsibilities

In-Sprint Automation Execution: Lead the design, development, and maintenance of robust Playwright scripts, ensuring user stories are automated within the active sprint.

AI-Driven Engineering: Implement and optimize AI tools to generate comprehensive test cases directly from acceptance criteria and conduct root-cause failure analysis.

Framework Architecture: Maintain and scale structured automation frameworks, establishing reusable utilities, fixtures, and maintainable design patterns.

CI/CD Integration: Integrate automated test suites into continuous delivery pipelines via GitHub Actions to deliver rapid feedback to dev teams.

Continuous Improvement: Oversee test metrics, eliminate testing bottlenecks, and foster a culture of quality and technical excellence.

Quality Leadership & Strategy: Define the overall QA strategy, establish automation standards, and lead quality engineering efforts across the project lifecycle.

Team Mentorship & Guidance: Mentor and guide QA engineers on best practices in Playwright, TypeScript, clean code principles, and AI-assisted testing tools.

Sprint & Stakeholder Alignment: Partner closely with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and Development Leads to integrate testing early in the lifecycle and ensure in-sprint automation goals are met.
