Job summary

MicroSourcing International is seeking a Medical Coder - Inpatient to review inpatient records and provider documentation to accurately determine diagnoses and procedures. You will assign MS-DRGs, APR DRGs, POA, SOI, and ROM indicators while identifying HACs and PSIs impacting quality reporting and reimbursement.

You will work onsite in Bogota, Colombia, collaborating with HIM and Revenue Cycle teams, ensuring compliance and data privacy while supporting continuous learning and professional

Qualifications

• 2+ years inpatient DRG coding experience.
• Advanced English level B2+.
• Bachelor of Science in allied health field.
• CCS, CIC, or CDIP certification.
• Extensive knowledge of MS-DRG/APR DRG, POA, SOI, ROM.
• HIPAA and healthcare regulatory knowledge.
• Proficient EMR experience (Epic/Cerner/Meditech).
• Experience with CAC/encoder software (3M/Solventum, Encoder Pro, Codify).
• Strong analytical and attention to detail.
• Team-oriented with integrity and data privacy.

Your Role:

As a Medical Coder - Inpatient, you'll provide high-level technical expertise in reviewing inpatient medical records and physician/provider documentation to accurately determine diagnoses and procedures. You'll assign appropriate MS-DRGs, APR DRGs, POA, SOI, and ROM indicators while identifying Hospital Acquired Conditions (HACs) and Patient Safety Indicators (PSIs) that may impact quality reporting and hospital reimbursement.

What You Need:

• Experience: Minimum 2 years of inpatient DRG coding experience or healthcare
• Advanced English Level B2+
• Education: Bachelor of Science degree in an allied health field.
• Certification: Active Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC), or Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner (CDIP) certification.
• RCM & Coding Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, diagnostic and procedural coding, MS-DRG and APR DRG assignment, POA, SOI, ROM, HACs, and PSIs.
• Healthcare Compliance: Working knowledge of HIPAA regulations and applicable federal, state, and local healthcare laws and regulations.
• EMR Experience: Proficiency with electronic medical record systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Meditech.
• Coding Technology: Experience with encoder/grouping software and Computer-Assisted Coding (CAC) is preferred. Experience with 3M/Solventum, Encoder Pro, or Codify is a plus.
• Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities, with excellent attention to detail.
• Teamwork & Integrity: Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively while maintaining professional integrity and ethical coding practices.
• Microsoft Office: Proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced Education: Master's degree or additional credential in business, healthcare, or a related field.
• Clinical Background: Registered Nurse with an active PHRN or USRN license.
• U.S. Healthcare Experience: Previous experience working with U.S. healthcare providers or payers.
• Matrixed Environment: Experience working effectively within a matrixed organizational structure.
• Healthcare Revenue Cycle: Previous experience with U.S. healthcare revenue cycle management and reimbursement processes.
