EPAM Systems, Inc. seeks a Lead Backend/Distributed Systems Engineer to design and operate scalable services that interact with distributed storage systems.

You will lead design, implement high-performance Rust components, and guide cross-team collaboration across time zones. The role requires 5+ years in backend development, leadership, and a strong background in distributed storage, async programming, and RPC systems.

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience.
• Experience designing or operating distributed storage systems.
• Strong knowledge of async, multithreading, and concurrency patterns.
• Proven RPC experience with gRPC or Thrift.
• Cloud-native architecture with service discovery.
• English proficiency at B2 or higher.
