EPAM Systems is seeking a Lead Backend/Distributed Systems Engineer to build and operate high-performance, scalable services that integrate with distributed storage systems. You will lead design and implementation work, improve reliability through troubleshooting and on-call support, and collaborate across global time zones.

Formación

• 5+ years of backend engineering with Rust.
• Strong leadership to guide technical decisions and mentor engineers.
• Experience designing or operating distributed storage systems.
• Advanced concurrency and async programming expertise.
• Experience with gRPC or Apache Thrift for service communication.
• Cloud-native architecture with service discovery tools.
• English level B2 for collaboration and documentation.

Responsabilidades

• Design scalable, high-availability backend services that integrate with distributed storage systems.
• Build high-performance Rust components and core service functionality.
• Lead system design for distributed storage features including consistency, sharding, replication, and fault tolerance.
• Implement RPC-based interfaces using gRPC or Thrift.
• Develop concurrent and asynchronous execution models for reliability and throughput.
• Troubleshoot production issues and drive root-cause resolution.
• Provide on-call support and improve operational readiness with runbooks.
• Coordinate with global teams and participate in occasional overlap meetings.
• Integrate cloud-native capabilities such as service discovery and service mesh.
