AgileEngine, LLC. is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer (Kafka) to own and operate the Kafka estate behind an event-driven integration platform. You will build, deploy, and monitor the infrastructure, ensuring resilience and replayability of events.

The role requires deep Kafka production experience, Linux automation, and ownership of CI/CD pipelines. You will work with Docker/Podman, Kubernetes, and IaC, while integrating AI-assisted development into daily workflows.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of production Kafka experience.
• Strong Linux engineering and automation (shell + Python).
• CI/CD pipeline ownership (Jenkins declarative pipelines).
• Containers: Docker/Podman and OCI images.
• Infrastructure-as-code and configuration management.
• Observability tooling: logs, metrics, alerting, SLOs.
• GenAI-assisted development in daily workflow.

Responsibilities

• Own the Kafka estate: design, partitioning, replication, retention, and broker config upgrades.
• Ensure platform resilience and availability during upstream SaaS degradation.
• Implement delivery guarantees: at-least-once/exactly-once, idempotence, dead-letter topics.
• Build streaming observability: lag, throughput, dashboards, alerts.
• Plan capacity, cost, and retention for durable logs with audit retention.
• Integrate vendor-native streaming/change-data-capture mechanisms.
• Own and evolve the build/release pipeline: Jenkins, packaged installs, signed images.
• Operate runtime estate: container deployments and OS modernization.
• Automate environment provisioning and configuration.
