Job summary

AECOM's Fire Suppression Engineering team in Medellín, Colombia, seeks an experienced and bilingual Associate Director to lead fire protection design for Data Centers, including clean agent, water mist, and other systems. You will coordinate across architectural, structural, electrical and mechanical teams and engage directly with clients.

Responsibilities include basis-of-design development, hydraulic calculations, BIM model integration, QA/QC reviews, and managing scope, schedule and budgets

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, civil, fire protection, or related engineering discipline.
• 8+ years of fire suppression design experience, including 5+ years delivering mission-critical/Data Center projects.
• Proficiency with NFPA, FM Global standards, and local code application.
• Proficiency with Revit MEP and AutoCAD; hands-on with hydraulic calculation tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead fire suppression design for Data Centers (clean agent, double-interlock preaction, water mist, wet/dry systems, fire pumps).
• Develop basis-of-design, calculations, hydraulic network models, equipment sizing, and detailed drawings/specifications.
• Ensure compliance with NFPA, FM Global standards, and AHJ requirements.
• Define protection strategies for white space, electrical rooms, battery/UPS, generators, fuel systems.
• Oversee QA/QC reviews, BIM model integration, and coordination with other disciplines.
